Ok, new Mac Pro needs to run a Classic app, for work. No problem, I can just VNC to my (relatively) old G5 right?

Ok, the G5 and Mac Pro are both in my apartment (different rooms), on the same (wired) router. Apple File Sharing works just fine between them. Apple Remote Desktop is on for both of them, with the VNC checkmark checked. Chicken of the VNC sees the G5 and puts it in the list of servers (bonjour?), but trying to connect freezes it for some long period of time (I usually force quit it, but I'v let it run for 10 minutes and it doesn't connect). This is the same symptom I have when connecting to my P3 from the G5 when I've entered the wrong local IP address (no connection). At work I can connect a G5 to my G3 powerbook just fine, but using the same steps at home doesn't work.

Why doesn't it work? Is there a conflict with Chicken and Intel?

Have you forwarded the ports on your router? Since it's an internal network, I'm not sure if that'll make a difference, but it's worth a try.

Otherwise, maybe try Vine Server instead of Remote Desktop (even though that should work).

Sorry, I got nothing else.

Oh yeah, already tried Vine Server, same result. In fact, I tried Vine Server first; is there any way that it did something to screw up Tiger's built-in server?
