I installed clamscanav on my iMac. I did not like it, so I uninstalled it. Somehow it still exists somewhere, as it runs frequently(usually at night). When it runs it REALLY runs - processor=100%.
I have searched all over for it and cannot find it, if anyone has encountered this please share!!
thanks

You could try installing ClamXav then uninstalling it to see if it will remove the version of clamscanav you installed yourself.

I tried just this -- installing ClamXav then uninstalled -- but the clamscan is still surfacing on my computer and running. And, just like fivell it eats up a ton of CPU.

Any other suggestions as to how to track this down for removal?thanks.

look in your /Library/StartupItems and your ~/Library/StartupItems and see if it is in there

I have tried all of the suggestions below and still have this application running in the background from time to time eating valuable resources. Any more suggestions, as I have tried the ones suggested so far with no luck.
