I just installed Logic Express 7 on my macbook. With this program my hope is to plug in and record my guitar. I would like to be able to use the Guitar Amp plug-in to modify the sound of the guitar recordings. I have looked for the plug-in in the program but have not been able to find it. Do i need to plug my guitar in before i can view this plug-in?

Also does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to plug my guitar into my macbook.?

thank you.

it's here:

channel>send>logic>distortion>guitar amp.

but first:

you need an audio interface (either usb or firewire).
a basic usb one should work fine.
check zzounds.com, or samash.com

m-audio and edirol make good ones (not expensive).

you plug your guitar into the interface; your stereo (ot headphones) can also connect to the interface (you'll hear your live playing AND the track from logic).

explore apple's support pages for logic, explore the manual, and there are logic forums online as well (sonikmatter.com has a good one)

have fun!

cool thanks.

for an audio interface. would i be okay with something basic like this...
Marshall Electronics iBooster Microphone Level Booster for Macintosh from zZounds.com

or am i better off with something a little better like this? M-Audio MobilePre USB Interface with Microphone Preamp from zZounds.com

im not all pro or anything, im just looking for some fun in my spare time. i dont need amazing equipment i just want something that lets me record my guitar onto my macbook. something that is simple to setup. with that being said i do want something that will work well and have good sound quality.

thanks.

p.s. is the channel>send>logic>distortion option only available after i plug in the guitar interface because i cant see it right now?

This should do if all you want to record is your guitar:
The Apple Store (U.S.) - Monster iStudioLink

the m-audio will let you monitor (thru it's headphone jack) the guitar AND what logic express is playing back, without latency; worth considering...
u could even plug it into your stereo (or powered speakers) to monitor...

(go ahead analogika, and correct me! u always show up after i post...!)
