My mother-in-law gets a lot of these chain emails with inspirational messages contained in PowerPoint shows from her friends. I don't know why she wants to open them as they are pretty silly and I'd just assume she didn't since they are probably riddled with macro viruses, but she just switched to a Mac and I don't like having her tell me there are things she can't open. These are auto-playing PP shows and they crash on the first slide. If I open them and remove the music files then they run fine. Is there some audio file type that PP uses on the PC that is incompatible on the Mac version? Is there a utility to strip them out?

Anyone? There must be others who have run into these files.

Did you try trashing the associated .plist?

What .plist? PP works fine. I can open other docs. I just can't open some of these weird ones on any mac running the latest version of Office. They always hang the machine.

PowerPoint often craps out with embedded media files. Not much you can do, I'm afraid.
I do not like those green links and spam.
I do not like them, Sam I am.
