Hey,
I'm a extremely new mac user (it's been about three days now), and I have a 17'' mbp with the 7200 rpm harddrive, 2 gigs of rams (maybe unnecessary information, but just in case there it is). But anyway, I recently bought a mac mainly for music production, as before I've been using a PC, which eventually frustrated me enough to want a more stable OS to perform in. I'm pretty knowledgeable when it comes to music production, but after switching to a mac, i feel like a complete novice.
However, my main question is with the program ableton live. With the PC, I downloaded a driver called ASIO4ALL to help with the latency of the sound card. That worked fine for all my purposes. On the mac though, I cannot download these same drivers, or at least it doesn't seem so (on the ASIO4ALL website all i can find is a .exe file for the driver). If there's someone who's had experience with this, I would like to know if there's a good driver to download to reduce the latency in music software, especially in ableton live, on a macbook pro.
Also, on a side note, I have a USB preamp and audio interface (M Audio MobilePre), that connects via usb. Now that I have a firewire port, I'm wondering if there's any significant reason to buy a firewire preamp box, or if for the most part, the USB one works fine.
-Thanks
