Greetings,

I recently switched from my titanium powerbook to a mac mini. On my powerbook I had Mac Office X serving up my word documents (*.doc) and so forth. Well, the mac mini came with Office 2004 (trial) and it's now expired, but I can't automatically link my old documents with my old version of Word. Any ideas?

I can manually open each document by right clicking and selecting open with and choosing the appropriate Word app. But it'd just be easier to double click the document and have it open automatically. Any ideas would be great. Thanks.

Right-click on any Word document, and select "Get Info." There will be a drop-down box that says "Open with;" go ahead and select Office X from there. Finally, click the button underneath it that says "Change All" and then confirm your choice via the popup box. Done!

well, I uninstalled it and it left a log on my desktop of everything it removed.

Sorry if I'm such a newb right now. So are you meaning find the application folder and drag it to my trash? The uninstall log shows a lot of stuff being removed so I don't know how that's different than dragging to the trash. But at this point, I'll try anything.

Thanks for everyone's feedback so far. Hopefully I'll find a resolution soon. Oh, one last tidbit which may or may not have relevance: recall I said I switched from my powerbook to my mac mini. I did the whole fireware cable from the two computers upon start up and everything was transferred over. Might that have anything to do with it since the mac mini came with an installation of Word already (trial version)?
