Two pictures are worth a thousand words.

Obviously the scroll bars and arrows are fuzzy. This problem is repeatable in that it's there after quitting and relaunching iTunes. It's also there on multiple reboots. This problem is only on my MacBook. On my G5 iMac, everything is fine.

I just got the MacBook, so I've only seen this on 7.0 and 7.1. I'm not sure whether it's been there longer.

A.) Anyone else seeing this?

B.) Got a solution?

Yep. Newest version of Quicktime (Pro). But again, this started before yesterday's updates to iTunes and Quicktime.

Oddly enough, I've had the same problem from day one with 7.0. For a while it was intermittent, sometimes fixing itself after a restart, but in recent months it's been a constant thing. For a while I thought it was universal to iTunes, but now I'm intrigued by the fact that it works fine on your G5.

Any ramblings are entirely my own, and do not represent those of my employers, coworkers, friends, or species

Same here. Under iTunes 7.0, I could change the view to anything but CoverFlow, click back and the scrollbars/arrows would be sharp again. Now, under iTunes 7.1, that no longer works.

Someone mentioned this on (I believe) the third page of iTunes 7.1 comments over at Engadget, but they didn't say what system they were on.

I've also posted this on Apple > Support > Discussions and received no feedback.

Guess either a.) this isn't a widespread problem or b.) nobody cares.

I'm getting this too. MacBook with 10.4.9 and iTunes 7.1. Goes away if I resize the window in any way.

Any ideas or progress?

ive got the fuzzies (nice technical name)

I've also another strange problem in that the column titles (such as Name, Artist etc) in the playlist sometimes appear distorted and pixelated, until i switch to another playlist or restart itunes- will post a screenshot when this happens again.

iTunes uses some Quartz or CoreGraphics or somesuch acceleration for that scroll-bar, which the MacBook's integrated graphics card is not able to handle, so the bar looks fuzzy above a certain size.

You're kidding?!? Makes me feel a little less enthused with my MacBook.

The fuzzies are irritating, they'll fix it in the next revision, right? ...RIGHT?!?

I'm not kidding, and for a real solution to your problem, might I suggest therapy?

All fuzzies and no solution make Jonny go crazy.

(Think the best thing's probably to avoid using iTunes and to just sit in silence for days on end.. just me and a never ending stream of conciousness, brilliant.)

It's probably using OpenGL directly, and yes, the MacBook's integrated graphics chip is capable to handle it since the fuzziness goes away if you force a redraw by resizing the coverflow area a little. There is some bug somewhere though (iTunes, OpenGL, graphics chip driver?) that causes the fuzziness sometimes. It's not the end of the world, but hopefully it will be fixed soon by Apple.

Simply untrue. My old 12" PowerBook and my G5 iMac both draw the scrollbars just fine and neither has any fancy graphics processing power.

If you're going to be snarky, at least be right. Thanks for bringing nothing to the table.

Same fuzziness on my BlackBook.

Do I care?

Nope. In fact, until I stumbled upon this thread, I never noticed it.

I have had the fuzziness for as long as I can remember. also, the column titles appear distorted on a regular basis.

in fact, as of right now, the coverflow view doesn't even have a scrollbar or arrows at all even though there are enough covers to scroll.

seems half-assed

Apple have now fixed this problem (with iTunes 7.3), I'm back in the realms of normality, it was a fun 'trip' while it lasted.
