I've used BounceBack for years to make backups. Recently the software has been acting up -- it had been giving me errors, then suddenly stopped. Well, today I was doing a search, and realized I had just one copy where I should have two (the original, and the backup, on an external drive). In looking, I realized that, despite getting "backup successful" notes from the software, it didn't appear anything had actually been backed up since about Feb. 1.

So I synced (using Chrono sync) my main documents folder (which is part of the system/user documents folder -- it just has all my various word processing docyuments). Then I thought I should try just a sync (using Bounceback) of my home folder. So I did it. Doublechecked -- and my backup home folder is completely empty! Gone. Everything.

I'm currently copying my Home folder back to the drive but boy am I nervous. (Have about 20,000 items to go.) Anyone have any idea what could have happened? I have a brand-new 500 GB external Seagate. Tomorrow, I'll get that formatted and then use SuperDuper, I guess, to clone the drive. and then, I guess I need to institute a double-backup system, and store some things off site, or something. If our power goes out or something in the next hour, I sure hope I still have my documents. Here I thought I had a backup... a nice, recent (yesterday) backup. And I don't.

Never heard of Bounceback before.
