Add the equivalent value of VAT to the US prices then start complaining otherwise the comparison is meaningless. They are probably still higher here in the UK (and the rest of Europe), even with the VAT, but without it, the difference looks far higher than it actually is.

That's crazy. I played around with the CS3 beta. Good interface improvements but nothing I would pay for. If those really are the UK retail prices you might as well buy a ticket for the US and go buy it there. You'll get a weekend holiday included too.

Adobe should not be allowed to get away with this - I would urge everyone outside the US to hold off from upgrading as the prices are nothing short of criminal, and above all, insulting to everyone who has bought Adobe s/w in the past and happens to live outside the US.

Hmm, so if I ordered CS3 from USA for cheaper and got it delivered, would it be exactly the same software or are there any regional differences? (I'm not going to America any time soon, I'd order it online.)

OK Brits (and Europeans), it's complaining time!!! There's been an online petition set up about the European pricing of CS3 here. As well as that, in the UK you can always let the Watchdog TV programme know you're not happy!.

ajprice: I've always bought Adobe upgrades from the US (to upgrade a British full version) and have never had a problem. I've never had a version that needed activation, though, so I can't say for sure that that won't affect things.

Same old game, played every time Adobe ships new software... I do get somewhat tired of it, really.
I can't remember which software is was for, I guess MM Studio 8, but at one point I managed to fool the system by not paying with credit card directly - PayPal came in handy as a sort of money proxy
Guess I'll have to try that again (if CS3 becomes available in downloadable form; currently it's shipped physical package only), or then do some minor transaction involving folks living in the US. At any rate I don't think I'll be so desperate for CS3 that I'll let myself be officially and royally ripped off by Mr. Chizen.
