So the
Inquisitor 3 search plug-in for Safari is officially released. A very slick little tool that actually got me to ditch the venerable
AcidSearch. But what if you want to use one of the latest
WebKit nightly builds to take advantage of the significant performance and compatibility improvements that have been made since the last Safari release? You can do that but you have to give up your Safari plug-ins like AcidSearch, SafariBlock, SafariPlus, etc because they cause WebKit to crash upon launch since they haven't been updated to support the constantly changing codebase. Well it seems that you no longer have to choose between the improved performance and compatibility of WebKit and the improved functionality of a search plug-in because Inquisitor 3 works fine in the latest WebKit nightlies!
I still had to give up SafariBlock (ad blocking) and SafariPlus (cookie management) ... but the main reason I started using those in the first place was to improve Safari's performance. And even without these plug-ins the performance of the latest WebKit builds is a significant improvement over Safari. But I couldn't go without the improved search functionality that AcidSearch provided .... and now I don't have to with Inquisitor 3.
