When I try to 'Back Up To CD' in iTunes, iTunes is not recognizing my external dvd-writer (LG Multi). It doesn't show up in iTunes burning preferences.
The writer works well with everything else and its driver is installed.
Anyone know what's going on?

It may be because iTunes only backs up to CDs, not DVDs. I think thats the case and I think I thought it was dumb to limit backups like that when I first heard about this neew feature.
Best bet is to take your iTunes Music folder in Finder and just drag its contents onto the DVD for backup.

Thanks Uisce, it's what I ended up doing but I had to split my iTunes folder since all the tunes didn't fit on one DVD. I know that iTunes lets me know that I'll need multiple CD's when backing up.
Maybe there's an app out there that'll do the same when backing up on a DVD writer that iTunes doesn't recognize.

I must admit I have never used that feature so far, but I seriously doubt that iTunes does not back up to DVDs.

Oh, I doubt it too (now) - it must be the inability to back up to a hdd that I find dumb.
