If I just got PS CS2 installed on my Mac. Can I buy the CS3 Suite upgrade? or I can only go for PS CS3 upgrade? anyone?

You can. Of course it doesn't give you as much of a discount as if you owned one of the suites, but you can do it. I own PS7, and will be purchasing CS3 Design Standard. My upgrade price (which is the same for owning PS for CS2) is $899.

I don't know which suite you're looking to buy, but on Adobe's site you can click "preorder now" for whichever one you want, and it will ask which version you're upgrading from and show you the price.

But wich one is the best option for a guy who's been using photoshop since 5.5?
the CS3 or CS3 extended? I'm lost now.

Well they have six different suites, which I found this article to be the most concise about describing.

If your primary interest is Photoshop and image-related apps, then Design Standard or Design Premium is probably what you'd be looking at. Note that all of the suites come with the bigger version of Photoshop (Extended), so there's no difference at all in which one you pick as regards Photoshop, just in what other apps come with it.

and if I buy just the Photoshop CS3, you think the extended bersion will be the "real" NEXT upgrade for it?
