Available for download now
The Mac Robotics Blog: VMWare Beta 3: now available
They removed the DEBUG option, and added Bootcamp support. I'll try this at home and stage a face-off between Parallels and Fusion. Should be interesting.

Does this beta have the 3d graphics support that they showed off in a video recently? I wonder how well that feature works.

The code was on the same page as the download link. They don't send it to you.

Why is this in the lounge and not in the Alternative Operating Systems forums?

Yep, it does! No Aero support, since Aero requires DX9 (and VMWare only supports 8.1). However, it's fairly responsive and fluid, even with only 512MB of memory allocated to the VM.

Actually, I think I am running bootcamp 1.2..and it may be causing me problems. When I tried to bring up my Vista install in VMWare, it blue screens...

Hmm... I guess it isn't "officially" supported, but it still works perfectly fine for me. They probably just haven't tested it very thoroughly, and just want to play it safe.

I think it's great. Finally I can access company training videos (which need activex & are DRM'd) from my macbook without needing to dual boot.

My free beta license runs out on 16th July - anyone got an idea on how much VMware Fusion final will cost?

For Windows and Linux they have a free "server" version (which you can use to create and run VMs) and a paid "workstation" version (with a few more features) for $200... I'm hoping we'll see the same offerings for Mac.

I hope so too.

I use VMware player on Ubuntu Linux to run Windows XP - I hace to in order to run a few applications. It's also great for many of the complete systems you can download - like FreeNAS & DSL - it's a great way to try things out.

I hope it's free when the beta comes out. If it's not then I'll try Q which looks promising

Parallels puts them in ~/Library/Parallels so I would think somewhere similar?
