FCE HD has been my arch rival when it comes to capturing clips, so i gave up on it and searched for other meens. i recently found a great app called footrack. it captures all my footage and catlouges everything for me. but the one issue is that i have a million clips after the capture. as in a full 1:02:xx minute tape captures from 50-70 clips. and i cant work in FCE that way its to hectic. so i was thinking of compressing them all into one clip then brining into FCE. but still then i have to wait to compress. then wait to render. then i can use. thats a good two hour process for every tape.

anyone have any ideas of what i can do?

Surely FCE has a function to merge 2 or more clips into one.

You should change your thread title if possible. "Compression" implies making the files smaller, not combining it into fewer files of the same total size. You'll get more people to see this who can help you if it's called "any tips on FCE" or "FCE clip management question," for example.

What format is the capture in? Plain old .dv files can be concatenated together at the command line.

cat (file1).dv (file2).dv (file3).dv... > output.dv
