Is it possible to buy another AppleCare Plan after the current one expires?

Nope. Law of diminishing returns for Apple - the older your hardware is, the more likely it is to fail catastrophically. For them to be able to offer AppleCare for something that is 3+ years old, they would need to charge more for it than the machine itself is probably worth.

I disagree, given the price of other OEMs warranties.
On a random laptop (D620), Dell offers 4 year for $150 more than 3 year.
On a random laptop (T60), Lenovo (ThinkPad) offers 4 year for $250 more than 1 year, or 5 year for $100 more than 4 year.

I think a 3 year old Mac laptop is worth more than $100-150!

Sorry, but I was thinking in terms of the cost of a further 3 year AppleCare plan, not just an extension for a further year on top.

That's alright. I meant buying another 3 year plan after my current one expires. Just to confirm it, you can't buy one after your current plan expires?

AppleCare is only a 2 year extension, not 3 year. As I mentioned in my last post, the price of AppleCare is comparable to the cost of an extra 2 (after 3) from other companies.
