Thought i'd throw this out to the masses.

I've been sending out music playlists to an ever growing list of people, just collections of new mp3's that i'm trying to get people listening to.

As i'm finding this mp3's all over the place though i'm getting wild variations in levels, some songs being way to quiet and other being too loud.

So i'm looking an easy way to check out where the songs are at and make adjustments accordingly and i'd like to do it in a more scientific way than just by listening and tweaking inside iTunes.

Any suggestions?

NB: No matter what software you use, the only things you have to go by ARE listening and tweaking.

Experience helps, of course, but since there are so many factors involved in what makes music sound "loud", just looking at measurement levels, waveforms, and bouncing meters is patently useless.

Only your ears can tell you whether the loudness is roughly equivalent or appropriate.
