Looking for a basic program to send text SMS messages to a cell phone. Want to have a way to store often texted cell numbers as well. Free or inexpensive is good!

Prefer it not to be a widget, just a program I can run from the dock.

What's the best one or one that everyone uses?

Thanks

Frank

You can't just text from a Mac to a cellphone. You need to go through a service provider, most of which just use a browser or browser widget.

Or if you've got a supported Bluetooth phone, Address Book can already send an SMS for you via your phone. Just click on the title of the phone number for the person in Address Book when paired with a bluetooth phone and choose Send SMS.

But that will cost you money (unless you've paid for unlimited SMS), whereas sending them over the internet is free.

iChat supports sending SMS messages, using an email gateway of some sort.
