The vast majority of my music collection consists of electronic/dance music and vinyl rips so all the apps that search for tags and art via Amazon are simply not up to the task most of the time.

Does anyone know of any apps and/or plugins that query the Discogs database?

Search the web for Doug's iTunes Applescripts.

The ones I use are

"CDDB Safari" which will search the Gracenote CD database for track info.

"CDDB Tracks to iTunes via Safari" which will transfer the info found by the above to the iTunes songs.

"Find album artwork with Google" which will do a Google, rather than Amazon, search for images. (This script is actually how I found the discogs, since it will return image hits from there, as well.)



Still an awful lot of manual work involved, but I don't know of any better way.

Thanks for the tip analogika.

Unfortunately my extended search turned up those as the only viable solution as well.

For artist and and album info at discogs I did a quick modification of the code for the Amazon search script. (just replace the amazon search string url with the search string url from discogs)

Works like a charm!
