Hi guys. We need some background music for a slideshow for my school, so we're having a student come in and play the guitar. I've got the guitar plugged into an amp, which then is plugged into my microphone port. I then record using GarageBand. This comes out fine, and there's only one problem-they can't hear the guitar. Would it be possible so, when a microphone (the amp acts like a microphone) sends sound to the computer, the computer plays it? We are trying to get it so when he plays the guitar, the amp will send it to the computer, and the computer will play it and garageband will record it. The amplifier we're using won't play the sound if there's a cord in the headphone jack.

Help please!

Thanks,
Chris K.

You can select to turn monitoring on in garageband (its somewhere near the gain and other controls in the Track Info part) which will play the sound back from the computer, so you could have the guitarist wear headphones connected to the headphone jack of your computer.
