I've got a weird problem with Firefox and Internet Explorer (on Windows, but Firefox on OS X has the same issue). Some images, like this one:

...won't open inside a web browser. Instead, it pops up the window one sees when downloading a file from the internet.

If I create an HTML file that links to the image using <img src="...">, it displays just fine.

Any ideas? It's not a terrible inconvenience, it's just weird.

Whether an image is downloaded or not depends on the MIME-type the image is sent with by the server. The admin of the server can set it up either way at will.
