i reinstalled osx and eveyrthign is fine but when i go to set up my gmail acount in mail. when it trys to retrieve the email it just closes.

if i open it up now and straight away click "go offline" it wont crash but when i untick it and let it retrieve the mail it will shutdown o_o

is the file currupted? where can i install a new version i cant find one anywhere <_< .. any help will be appreciated .. >_>

I would try temporarily moving the Mail folder from ~/Library/ to the desktop and starting from scratch. Does it still crash then? (Also temporarily move the com.apple.mail.plist from the ~/Library/Preferences folder as well, btw)

moving the mail folder did nothing,i moved the other file you mentioned to the desktop and launched mail and it had me set up the email acount again but then it quit as soon as it tried to retrieve the mail <_< is it possible to completely delete mail and install it from the osx disk? if so where am i supposed to find the mail app on the disk o.O

well i stopped it from crashing by deleting it and reinstalling it.somethign must have been corrupted.thanks i wont need anymore help ^_^
