So I have about 200 entries in my Apple address book. I use it heavily, and sync it to my cell phone. I was showing someone else how easy it is to sync, so I sycned my phone with THEIR computer. It erased my book and uploaded theirs. It was cool. No big deal either ill just resync when I get home. So I synced it when I got home, and rather than re-upload all of my contacts, iSync went through MY address book, and deleted every one of my contact's phone numbers. So now I have an address book with names, some emails, some addresses, and not one number. And the only number in my cell is my own cell number. I suspect I'm ****ing screwed but on the off chance that I'm not, let me know where the magic "fix all problems" button is :-)

uh...why would u sync your phone to another computer? u set this in motion with that act...
when you got back to your mac, isync just sync'd the newest info (in this case, her contact stuff).

do u have a backup? (of course u do).
look in users>yourhome>library>application support.
if you have it, copy the backup "Address Book" folder to your App Support folder (replacing the incorrect one there)...

hope that helps...

I think you mean... YOU killed your address book.

If you have backed up your home directory (you DO keep backups, right?) OR you ever used the backup command that's in Address Book (file->Back Up Address Book) then you have restore options. If you've done neither... well I guess you learned a lesson.

If you sync your contacts to your iPod, you can get the iSync file from the iPod and add that to the address book. If you enable the iPod in disk mode, you'll see the (.vcf?) file.

Luckily i recently upgraded to a two disk fast raid, and my old original disk is still in the tower unmounted. So I booted from that and got my whole address book back. I prefer the ipod version if sync, where sync means whatever is on your iTunes goes to your iPod. I don't like that a sync of your cell phone can mangle your real address book.

Difference being your cell phone features input and editing of data while an iPod does not. Therefore no reason exists to download the iPod data.

iSync assumes you're "careful" enough to not sync your devices with someone else's data.

Set the preferences in iSync to inform you when changes are to be made to the databases on your Mac;
