Hey all-

I have an odd thing happening to my OS X Mail application- I always have two "ghost" messages. That is, the Dock icon will pop up with that little red dot saying 2 messages after about 5 minutes of inactivity, even if there are no new messages. It does this on a consistent basis. I recently did a complete wipe and reinstall of my system, and before that, Mail didn't have this behavior.

I am running 10.4.9 with all patches.. I also have three different mail accounts going into Mail- one .Mac, one Entourage, and one POP account.

Uhhh.. What's going on? Any way to solve it? It's not a stability issue, but it sure is annoying thinking "OH! Someone loves me!" and then realizing the mail box is actually empty.

It happens on my .Mac account occassionally. A relaunch fixes it.

What do you mean by Entourage account? Do you mean Exchange? If you mean exchange, it could be a recalled message notice. Mail won't display those since they aren't a standard email message. You can access your Exchange account from the web if your work has it enabled and deal with them there.

Oops- my bad.. Yeah- Exchange.

And WOW- You were right! I logged in through the myhostedexchange web front (for the first time in weeks and weeks), and lo and behold, there were two recalled messages! I think it'll work now.
