I was testing out a website newsletter, and in doing so, I set up an email account with MS Outlook Express using Parallels on my machine. I have a .mac account, and I set up the Outlook account to read and receive emails with my .mac account. All the emails that I had sitting on the .mac server apparently got "sucked" into the Outlook account, but they are no longer appearing when I use my Mac OSX mail app.

I deleted my account on Outlook. All the messages are still in my inbox. I don't want to tamper too much. Anyone have any idea how I can get my email to show up in my mail app again? I am fairly certain they are still sitting on the server.

<frustration....>

You probably set up the .Mac account in Outlook as a POP service. So it did what a POP client is supposed to do, it hauled the email off of the server and now they are sitting on your hard drive. I don't follow what you did when you say you deleted the Outlook account and all the messages are still in my inbox. If you set up a POP account and didn't specifically tell it to "leave a copy on the server" then those messages are not on the server. Go slow here! Is the Outlook account still usable?

If you access your .Mac mails using IMAP then you can access them with as many and any client and the messages will always stay on the .Mac server. However if you use POP to download the mail then they are stored locally on that machine (in your case in Outlook) and removed from the server. That's how POP is supposed to work (and that's why one should only use IMAP these days imo).

If the messages are still in your local Outlook inbox you can access .Mac mail using IMAP and move/copy the messages from your local inbox into the inbox on the .Mac server.

Whoah. The messages are still there, I believe. When I open outlook, I see something like 4000 messages in my inbox.

Any way I can get them back on my .mac account?

Thanks for taking the time!
