hello, i read an article in (i create) magazine, and they talked about importing your imovie project into final cut express. i have final cut pro on my laptop, and wanted to import a few projects from imovie into final cut pro, it seemed as though everything was working fine, untill i started working with my clips, in final cut pro the audio is not working right, all i get is the 2 channels beeping at me, but when i scroll though the clip i can hear the correct audio, i tried to extract the audio from the clips in i movie, and it worked, when i moved audio around and edited it in i movie it worked just fine in final cut pro, but the audio that was with the clip on the orignal tape, and recorded with i movie does not work. hopefuly there is an easy fix, i would perfer to just import my entire tape with i movie, and have that cut the clips for me and just import the project into final cut pro, however if i can not get that to work, will i just have to batch import from the orignal tape? im pretty new to final cut pro as you can tell, i have a book to help me along with my learning curve.

Those beeps sound like the "not rendered" noise? Are you rendering your footage/audio once it's pulled down into the timeline?

Otherwise it could possibly be the audio container method?

I tried it both rendering and not rendering the files. When I did render them, I rendered them in quick time, .dv format, and when I did not render them, it was just pulling the files from the imovie file I think.. however when I import the video directly from the DV cam everything works just fine in final cut, I was just hoping to import the whole tape in imovie and then movie it over to final cut pro to get the clips cut into 10min secments or so, is there a way I can have final cut pro do that, to where I import the whole tape and it will cut the tape into 10 minute clips for editing? From what I have read so far I havent seen anyt way to do that.

Thank you for your quick reply.

By using iMovie for capturing video to edit in Final Cut Pro, you're adding unnecessary steps to your workflow. I'd recommend capturing directly into Final Cut Pro.

Specific steps for logging and capturing can be found in Volume 1 of the Final Cut Pro User Manual starting on page 243.
I gotta have more cowbell.
