I have purchased a second hand 12" PowerBook which means I have only got OS X 10.2.8.
I want to to install a graphic application but am struggling to find the relevant versions / instructions for 10.2.8.
The applications I am interested in are GIMP, Seashore or Inkscape.
Can anyone provide any help / instructions?

You should be able to find a copy of Tiger for free/cheap somewhere.

As I recall, 10.2.8 had a bug in its graphics... so 3D graphic applications would not work correctly.
I would recommend upgrading to at least 10.3 since most apps are supported there. Support for 10.2 was pretty much discontinued once panther kicked in.

VersionTracker's page for Inkscape claims it supports 10.2, but I can't verify that.
Seashore requires 10.3.
It's possible to get the GIMP working on 10.2 (I know I did it), but because you're unlikely to find Apple's crappy old X11 beta for 10.2.8, you'll have to install XFree86, OroborOSX, and fink first.

Last I checked, Gimp.app doesn't work with the old version of X11 that Apple released for 10.2. You'll have to get Gimp some other way, like through Fink. I don't know how well Inkscape plays with old X11.

Thanks for all the comments.
Think I will just bite the bullet and upgrade OS X on my PowerBook. Then everything should just work and I'll be able to get TextWrangler as well.
@Thinine: Any ideas where I will be able to "find a copy of Tiger for free/cheap"?
Also, will my 384MB RAM be enough to handle Tiger? (I know the Apple website recommends a minimum of 256MB). I am definitely a "light" user (mainly Firefox and a little bit of text editor action).
Thanks.

Looking on eBay, I see several copies of Tiger for $50-$60.

I'm guessing you have an 867 MHz G4 PowerBook which is what I have. 384 Mb of RAM should be fine for just browsing the web, but you might want a bit more if you are going to use graphics apps and Firefox at the same time.
