Hey all.
So I switched from a PC to a Mac and I'm seeing colors I never saw before and all that.
But I have a problem. I want to use my palm pilot, so I downloaded the palm desktop for Mac. The problem I have is that I can't open the file I downloaded form Palm.com. When I click on it, it says there is no default application to open it.
It's a .sit file.
What do I have to do?
Hope someone can help.

The Unarchiver can open .sit files. Or StuffIt Expander if TA doesn't work.

Search the forum on Palm Desktop. The app is outdated and not maintained and basically awful. My suggestion is to switch to Addressbook and iCal and use iSync (all free), or buy MissingSync which has some really great features. IMHO ...

I second the motion. It's fairly easy to set up.

Synching with the Palm via iSync requires Palm Desktop to be installed anyway -- iSync won't sync with the palm otherwise. The Palm conduit for iSync communicates with Palm Desktop, and it has some significant limitations (it can only sync one address per contact, for example).

A MUCH better alternative if you want to pay $ is to use The Missing Sync which does a fairly good job, and which integrates natively with sync services. It completely avoids the old, crusty, not-updated-in-over-3-years Palm Desktop software. I'd say if you want to go Palm, go Missing Sync. But better would be to use the palm as a doorstop and upgrade to an iPhone when it comes available

you need something like the app mentioned, or the free stuffit expander.
you DO need palm desktop installed...but def worth considering syncing to address book and ical (you'll need the palm desktop for your memos...)

anyway, what i do (and have done for years now..)
