I have gotten a new Mac and want to bring over some of my information from my MacBook Pro but not all of it.
I want to bring my iCal calendars and AddressBook.
Where is the actual information kept? One time before I tried to just bring over the info from the preferences files but it didn't work

Any help would be appreciated.

You don't have to know where the info is kept.

In both programs do File->Back up... on the one computer, move over the backup file and do File->Revert to Backup from the other.

You can choose what to migrate using migration assistant if you like.

What if I don't want to use the migration assistant?
I was just planning on moving all the files I want to an external hard drive and copy them that way.
