I'm working on a family films project and I have two sets of commentary video to go along with a set of old films that have been digitized. Somewhere in the process, I lost the right channel - must have happened at import time. I had a stereo mic hooked up to my Canon ZR60, that I know. But for some reason, I only have left audio, which sounds horrible.

Is there a quick and easy way to just make this a mono movie? I can't find any such setting.

I could extra the audio from the clip, export it, make it stereo with Audacity, then reimport it and line it up.... but that would be a major PITA.

I'm eventually going to export this to iDVD. I didn't see any options there for making this mono, either, other than expert settings on Export to Quicktime Movie - and then I'd probably lose quality and chapter markers and all that.

Anyone have any bright ideas??

Well... apparently I somehow messed up with original audio. It appears that the original is L only. Not sure how I messed that up.

Anyway, the Canon ZR60 had an audio output mode that will let me do L/L audio (repeat the left audio in the right). So I'll just re-import these clips to iMovie with this setting.

If anyone knows of a way to effectively do this within iMovie or iDVD (without extracting, exporting, fixing, and reimporting) please let me know.

I take it back... it works for playback, but not for importing. Sigh. Back to square one. And now I've thrown away the clips, so I have to reimport. If I were to import these some other way, maybe using Quicktime Pro (which I don't have but would be willing to buy if I had to)? I want to (ideally) double the left audio (copy to right channel) without having to split off the audio from the video clip (so I don't have to try to realign it and so if I cut a clip, I get both audio and video).

Thoughts??
