Hello,

I have been backing up my DVD collection into Divx for a few days right now. However, using ffmpegX I lose video quality when it goes from the original resolution of the DVD 720x480 to 640x352.
I have tried to set the resolution to DVD quality but it will not look right.

Also does anyone know if backing up the audio as 5.1 will increase my file size a lot?

Anyway, My main question is.. if there is any other software that will allow me to encode my DVD and keep the video resolution the same?

And well should I encode Divx, mov, or mp4??

By the way I used MAcTheRipper to get my VOD files.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Carlos

It sounds like you don't understand anamorphic format. Google it.

Yes, keeping the source 5.1 AC3 audio will make the files bigger or the video quality poorer.

HandBrake Its precisely what I was looking for, it evens has a setting for PS3... I can't ask for more now, I can back up my DVD collections and stream it to my PS3 and use it like kinda appleTV.... SWEEETTTT!!!
I was looking for a way to encode mp4 that was all in one like this one for a while...

About anamorphic format, you are right I have no idea what it is. However, I am reading about right now thanks!
