Hey guys just bought a Geek Squad UPS (875VA 525 WATTS) today because we keep having power surges and outages in our area and I keep loosing work when they go out.

I've got it plugged up to my Mac Pro via USB and the Mac sees it as a battery source but can't give any more information than that. The drivers that came with it are for Windows only and I was wondering if anyone here had found some Mac drivers that work with this unit.

So far I'm liking this thing, it looks really nice and has a nice LCD built into it with some useful information, especially how much power wise I'm using while everything is plugged up. From what I can tell with my Mac Pro, 4 routers, Cable Modem, 2 scanners, multi-printer, dual 19" monitors, DV Cam, Digital Phone system and a lamp. It can keep all that running for 80 minutes after primary power is lost, that's pretty nice if you ask me. I mainly got it so I can save my work and shut down my Mac Pro and to keep my modem and routers online so I'll have phone and my alarm system can stay connected incase of an emergency.

I would try and find out what the actual manufacturer of the UPS is, since it's likely Geek Squad just rebranded it. They may have Mac drivers.

Any pointers on how I would find the actual manufacturer?

Try asking a supervisor or senior tech from the store you purchased it from, they may know.

I doubt it, they wouldn't probable just say Geek Squad.

At least give it a shot, when I used to work at Best Buy, I knew the true manufacturers of a few of the store branded products.

I'm seeing a connection with Cyber Power brand products. There's at least a few discussions online that indicate at least SOME Geek Squad UPSs will work with Cyber Power drivers. The real question then becomes, does Cyber Power make drivers for Macs?

I've already located the company, yes it's CyberPower and no they do not make Mac drivers for the products. The interesting thing I did find though is that the model that I have, CyberPower does not make or carry. I guess they produced a smaller WATT model just for Geek Squad.
