I am trying to get the Remove It Permanently extension for Firefox to remove a SWF item from a website, and it does not work (at least, not permanently). Is there something special about Flash that prevents RIP from removing it?

While I have not had any experience with that extension, I use Adblock on FireFox to block annoying Flash elements. Nothing better than making that psychedelic Flash Ad that won't stop running dead in its tracks

Have you tried other Flash items? Maybe the Flash item in question is added through JavaScript and RIP can't detect that.

Actually, FlashBlock works to prevent Flash from starting up. I wanted a frame with a Flash item in it completely gone. Someone pointed me to ripWiki, and I got the answer there. Apparently sometimes you have to add the path to the unwanted item manually.
