Hi, I just bought a Macbook Pro a few days ago, and this is the first Apple computer I've ever owned. I was an avid Windows user until a few days ago.

I want to buy a program that converts CDs into mp3 files. Previously, I used dpPowerAmp (which I loved). I'd prefer to encode with LAME 3.97. I basically want to create only high-quality VBR files that are a bare minimum of 160kps and max of 320kbps or higher JointStereo (and preferably use Bit Resevior), and it must also be efficient but not just encode at a certain kbps because I told it "keep it near that minimum." Basically have a lot of options that an audiophile would want.

What program best suites my needs? I really don't want to dual boot Windows and run that one program.

Thanks a lot.

iTunes can import CDs as variable bit rate mp3s. You get better audio quality if you import as AAC with the same bitrate (variable bitrate is available for AAC as well).

Alright, thanks a lot. I guess I just didn't look far enough down the Google result. I ended up installing http://www.stimuli.ca iTunes-LAME: LAME MP3 encoder for OS X (intel) It works brilliantly, and now I have all my old settings put back, and it even directly puts it directly into iTunes, so no more cut off track names! I'm also 90% sure it uses Bit Reservoir.

So thanks a lot, and I recommend that to anyone else who runs intel macs.
