Mac spell checking on-the-fly software?

The Windows OS has a terrific spellchecker, As-u-Type, which corrects spelling on the fly. Is there something comparable for the Mac OS?

For what software?
Spell check is built into the OS and is usable by Cocoa apps. For instance, in Safari if you come to type a reply to this, control-click in the textarea and select Spelling > Check spelling as you type

I think what he wants is autocorrection software rather than spell checking, per se. It is true that spell checking is built into the OS, though.

That is correct. I am looking for auto correcting so that I do not have to stop all the time to make the corrections.
