Okay working for the dumb question of the week award.
http://forums.macnn.com/images/smili...ool/tongue.gif
I ordered the license for Quicktime Pro - duly entered into Preferences - Quicktime and the app still reads "Quicktime Player" when launched. Is this normal?
Many thanks

The name of the application does not change, you just get the additional features of QuickTime Pro. Note that the QuickTime player is not really the big part of QuickTime. The important part is the frameworks in the background that do all of the work: audio, video, 3D, and image ancoding/decoding. The "QuickTime Player" is just a small wrapper allowing you to use some of that functionality.

Thanks larkost for your note - very much
As I don't have any other Quicktime icons I assume Quicktime Pro is still launched by QT Player correct?

The "Pro" simply unlocks features that were there all along.

Your 'About QuickTime Player' window must show a PRO logo right now.

Hmmmm, we're having problems with QT files not being able to open on web pages (dim Q + question mark shows up instead) so we can't view Yahoo! clips or You Tube clips.
The old iMac (direct cable connection to modem) works fine. I updated QT to 7.1.6 and upgraded key to QT pro, but I do not see the QTpro logo when I open QT.
Is this a Safari issue? (we did try Firefox and it doesn't work either) - suggestions?

I don't know about the Yahoo! site, but YouTube does not use QuickTime, but rather uses Flash, so your problem is probably there.

Download and install the latest version of the Adobe Flash plug-in.
Also check to see if you have any conflicting internet plug-ins (e.g. old versions of the QuickTime plugin, DivX plugin etc that shouldn't be there in /Library/Internet Plug-ins and ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
