So, in the interest of full disclosure, let me point out that I help out on this App. I don't get any money from it, though. I just really like it.

I stumbled upon Linkinus in April, about 3 or so days after it had been released. I liked it a lot! The GUI was nice, and it was very well done over all. A few rough edges, to be sure, but it was a very promising start for a 1.0! I met the developer, nl, and we got along great!

Version 1.1 was released today! A ton of fixes/additions/improvements (210 or so,) and on the whole it's just much better. I just thought you guys might like to check it out.

A word to the wary, it's not a free IRC client. it costs $20. I, personally, think it's worth every penny. You may not.

Even if you'd never be willing to pay for an IRC client, check it out! There's an unrestricted 15 day trial. We LOVE feedback. The more the merrier!

Linkinus

P.S: I cleared this post with the mods before posting it.

I like the interface and feel but I left it on overnight and it's using 208 mb of real memory and 584 mb of virtual.

Seem a bit high just for an IRC client?

That does seem rather high. How many channels are you in? How large is your scroll-back? (lines it keeps before they disappear)

The higher those 2 numbers, the more RAM Linkinus will use.

I'll give it a try. I don't really like any IRC apps I've tried — maybe this will be the one that gets it right?

I'm only in two channels both with under 10 people in them (same server). Scrollback is 100, which is the default I guess, never changed it.

Not running any custom scripts or anything. Is this an unusual problem, or something the developers are aware of?

This is something we're aware of, although it's really never been THAT bad.

Probably a moderator. [ANN] is a common tag on mailing lists and forums indicating that the post is a product announcement.
