Flash based video (Google, Youtube) can be downloaded as follows:

Surf to the website in Safari with the video. Select the command Window->Activity. In the Activity window find the .flv file of the video. It's usually the largest one (several MB). If the video is still in progress of loading it is particularly easy to find since the size is in black text. Now option-double-click the .flv file in the activity view to download it to your desktop.

You can view .flv video files in QuickTime Player after installing Perian. If you have QuickTime Pro you can also export into another format, like MPEG-4 H.264. Something like iSquint can do that too for free.

Thanks, it works pretty well. One more question though. Safari crashes when attempting to open a movie which uses Stage 6(divx I think). Thus I have to use Firefox. I can't see the equivalent on Firefox(activity I mean). Do you know the steps for Firefox? Thanks

Snapz should be used only as a last resort, IMO.

Downloading from Stage6 is pretty easy, at least if you've got adblock installed. Just click the adblock tab above the video and you'll see an url, copy that and paste it into a download manager (or Safari's download window).

For streaming Windows Media, ASFRecorderX (or the included mmsclient CLI if the GUI doesn't work for you) can save some, but not all. For Real Video I use CLI mplayer with the -dumpstream option.
