With recent court and business decisions, it sounded like iTunes was going to allow users to put purchased music onto players other than an iTune (like a Palm TX running Pocket Tunes 4.0). Has anyone tried this yet?

Some pTunes users supposedly have copied their purchased music to a CD and then put it onto other players, but only on WMP11 on a PC. Again, has anyone tried this on a Mac?

(I can only play and backup libraries between our MacBook and iMac on the same network)

The "iTunes Plus" songs are just AAC files, without DRM, so if your player can play AAC, you can listen to those songs (a small minority of the total songs on iTunes).

Yes, copying to a CD and then ripping into iTunes does take the encryption off of songs on a Mac as well as a PC. You can rip them to MP3 or whatever you want.

Copy to a CD and then reripping will reduce quality. Most ears can tell.
