I'm trying to put together a website proposal for a small business in my area (a bowling alley). I know that if I want to market my sites to anyone, they need to incorporate a little Flash or just flashiness - I tend to keep things simple, and it's too simple for what people want these days. So I have an idea for making the header image in Flash.

I've never touched Flash. I have MX 2004 on my Windows machine and have access to some recent version for OS X in a Mac lab nearby. I pick up on things pretty quickly - what I'm looking for is something that really covers the fundamentals of Flash, either in an online tutorial or an actual book.

Any recommendations are appreciated.
For all the trash I talk, I sure own a lot of Macs...

Depending on what you want to do, you should be able to download a sample .fla file of a project and work through it with an online step-by-step guide.

There are online guides/samples everywhere, but this is a good place to start:

Flash MX (and 2004, afaik) also comes with a tutorial that walks you through the basics.
I do not like those green links and spam.

There are many good sites for tutorials. One in particular that I use for programs like Photoshop and Flash is Photoshop Tutorials, Flash Tutorials and More! P2L Tutorial Search.

Recognize that it is much harder to maintain the content on a Flash driven site, since it is much more difficult to maintain content with a CMS, and a large enough site will likely warrant a CMS.

It is for this reason that I recommend keeping all dynamic content out of Flash.
