Hi,
I have employee's who view their email storage as the Holy Grail of communication reference. Because even my boss uses it this way, I am attempting to find a solution the following problem:
We are moving to a new mail server (hosted outside of our organization), and that mail server automatically deletes email messages that are 1 year old or older. My staff members (and boss) have email messages that go back several years at lest.
I thought I'd set up a rule to copy all messages over 1 month old (for testing) to a local "Archive" folder on their hard drive, but the rule doesn't work! I set it up as follows:
"Any" conditions met
"Date Sent" is "Greater Than" "30" days old
Perform the following actions:
"Copy Message" to mailbox: "Local-Archive"
but not even running the rule manually yields any results. Does anyone have any ideas on what I'm doing wrong with the mail rules?
Thanks...

I'd just set
Code:
"Any" conditions met
"Every Message"
Perform the following actions:
"Copy Message" to mailbox: "Local-Archive"
does that work?

Hey thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, no dice. I see my CPU pop up when I "apply' these rules, so I know it's thinking about it, but I can't quite figure out what more information Mail needs on my rules. I wish there was some kind of Error Log or something!

Heh, I had read somewhere that Rules are only processed on incoming messages, and sure enough new mail just got copied to my Archive box. Not my sent messages though.
I just seems odd that I would be given the chance to set up these rules, but they don't seem to process as expected. "user error" I guess.

Okay, I have a new idea:
Create a rule that runs an applescript. The point of the applescript is to find all the messages in (whatever folders I decide) and copy the contents to (local folder). I could just have it run each time a person receives any message.
Flaw In Plan: I don't know applescript.
Anyone know of any sites with pre-made applescripts for moving mail?
