I just got a new Black MacBooks, upgrading from an iBook. Everything is working great except for iChat. It'll work fine for a couple of days, and then iChat will freeze on startup. And when I mean freeze, I mean you have to force quite iChat.

I've tried deleting the preferences, which worked once and then didn't work other times. The first time it happened, I even reinstalled OS X (since I wanted to customize the install anyway).

Any ideas?

Might try deleting its cache file(s) in ~/Library/Caches.

No go. I had been trouble-free with my iBook for so long I had forgotten to delete the Cache files. But ultimately it didn't do anything. The funny thing is, I remember having this problem years ago when iChat first came out. A later update fixed it.

So for now I'm using Adium. Maybe a maintenance update will fix it, or Leopard.
