Hi...

I'm thinking of getting a Mac mini and throwing an email server on it. Nothing special, just for personal use. I see that Postfix Enabler seems to be the way to go for my needs, my budget, and my experience level.

I don't have the Mac yet so I haven't experimented yet, so my question is...Is Postfix Enabler a reliable and acceptable way to do a small email server on Tiger or Leopard? Should I be looking at other solutions? I suppose I'm smart enough to get Postfix up and running without Enabler, but I guess I prefer a GUI.

BTW, I'll probably have PHP and MySQL on the machine as a web server.

Thx,
D.

I used to run it and it worked fine. I think the only issue which might arise is that you end up having an SMTP server which is not recognised as legitimate by some ISPs and they might bounce your e-mails. I seem to recall having some messages to AOL friends bounce back.

I used this for sending e-mails when on the road - a very convenient way to operate. Since then, my work moved to authenticated SMTP so I send messages that way and I no longer have a need for Postfix enabler. Good luck.
