So I had my iPhoto library on my eMac. Then I got a MacBook and transferred my photos and everything else. When I opened iPhoto for the first time, it re-organized my iPhoto Library to make it work for the Intel machine. Later, when I went to look in my iPhoto Library, about 10% of my photos were gone in no particular order. There were still thumbnails, but when I clicked on them, there was just a gray exclamation point, signifying that the file couldn't be found. Any help?

Did you reorganize your library in the finder? That is what did it! NEVER mess with photos in the library in finder! You risk losing photos, corrupting them or otherwise creating havoc! Do ALL your organizing from within iPhoto app!

Why did you think you needed to "make it work for the intel machine"? As far as iPhoto, there is no difference. iPhoto is iPhoto -- let it organize the finder the way it wants to, and you just organize within the app.

To get out of your situation, you might try rebuilding your library. Instructions are on the Apple site (KB article). Good luck, and stay out of the finder!

Did you read my post? I didn't do anything within the iPhoto Finder folder. The iPhoto app rebuilt my library for the Intel version of iPhoto. Apparently iPhoto is not iPhoto, because it said something along the lines of "We need to update your library. This will render all your photos unreadable on anything but an Intel machine."

Then it deleted a few photos here and there.

Sorry, I read your first post to say that you had changed your library. Mea Culpa. However, I would still try rebuilding your library. Apparently something in the different iPhoto apps did not like some photos for some unknown reason. Rebuilding might help. Do be careful with the "manual rebuild" though. The standard rebuild did not help me, and so I went the extra mile and did the manual 4rebuild. There is a warning that it might duplicate some photos, etc. and boy, was it right! It turned my 3,000 photos into 15,000! Took a while to sort it out, but at least I got my photos back! Well worth it!

Good luck!

I just realized it's not random- It's deleting all the portrait oriented photos. None of my landscape photos are gone....

Hmmm. The plot thickens! I'm assuming the photos had to be rotated in order for them to be portrait? If so, what method was used to rotate them. That could hold a clue. Were they rotated within iPhoto, did your camera auto-rotate them (mine does), did you rotate them in Photoshop or the like, did you rotate them in Image Capture? Or??? That may hold the key to the problem.

My camera auto rotated them, I turned my camera as you would to get a portrait pic.
