Overlocking firefox

I've heard of overclocking cpus, i.e., increasing the megahertz but I've not heard of overclocking an application.

I can right-click just fine in the latest official release. Try dumping your firefox caches and/or preferences to see if that restores right-clickability.

How do you overclock a piece of software? They don't have clocks.

Ugh. Quite a few of the things there are bad ideas/don't work. For example, setting max requests to 30 does nothing, since it's capped at 8 anyway.

It's also definitely not "overclocking", they're just using that word for effect.

So your actual question is:

"How do I add a custom setting to Firefox in the about:config dialog?"

I don't know, but I wouldn't suggest removing the page display delay. That doesn't speed up page loading. In fact it slows it down. It just appears to be faster because it keeps you entertained watching the page display progressively.

Also note that pipelining is turned off for a reason. It's experimental and may not work with some websites. And the maximum of simultaneous requests in Firefox is 8, so their suggestion to set this value to 30 is a bit nonsensical.
