I have a quick question on Garage Band. Does anyone know if there is a way to apply and effect in Garage Band to only one part of a track. Let's say for example, I want to use the Echo Effect but only on one word or phrase. Currently, I create a track just for the effect and copy and paste the part that I want an effect on to the new track.. but this seems VERY tedious and I know that Adobe's software let's you just highlight a region and create and effect for the Region. Am I missing something? Is there and easier way to do this in Garage Band? Thanks for whatever help you can give.

AFAIK, no.

In Logic, this works by applying the effect to the entire track, and then using automation to change the wet/dry mix for the passages you want the effect on.

In the current version of GarageBand, automation is only available for track volume and pan.

Of course, this *may* change if a new version of GarageBand is announced today...we'll see.

Really? I know that Audacity allows you to apply an effect to a selected area. You might want to think about creating the effect in that, then importing the thing into GB.
