Is there any trick for exporting an iPhoto slideshow to iDVD in widescreen mode?

The export works, but the pictures are not correctly formatted for widescreen. The pictures are displayed with black bars both on the sides of the picture and above/below. They should be expanded to fill at least one of those directions.

I would probably get better results with 4:3 encoding. But, all the TVs I want to display on are widescreen, so it seems a shame to encode for 4:3.

Anyone have tips for this?
