The great new feature of '08 is the ability to browse through *lots* of video sources. I have about 40 DV tapes, and have been sucking them into iMovie 06 into a separate project per tape.

Will these projects import into iMovie 08, so I can bring footage from separate tapes into one output project, or will I have to re-import the tapes into a new über iMovie 08 project?

Turns out (after finding the tutorial videos) that there is an "Import iMovie HD" menu item that will suck in your existing project. Presumably you can import more than one.

I wonder what the limit of the iMovie catalog is? Will it reasonably hold 1, 5, 10, 40 hours or more?

The limit appears to be your drive space (combining any shared network drives or external USB/Firewire drives)
