I'm finding iTunes too quiet on my PowerBook even with audio up full and using EQ settings. Is there a hack to boost iTunes or system audio. VLC is louder than this so I know the speakers and audio chip can do it.

All I can think of is bumping up the audio via the Equalizer, as well as turning the volume all the way up via the iTunes Volume slider... and then upping the system audio.

If that doesn't suffice, external speakers.

Volume is only low in iTunes and Quicktime. Everything else can be set louder. There must be a hack there somewhere.

I just read it is a common problem. It happened after a EU regulation that required Apple to lower the volume of iTunes and iPods. The only solution is to choose the Rock equalizer setting and put pre-amp all the way up.
