I am looking for some software / hardware that can sync a mac and pc. I have a mac at home and a pc at work. I can not download software to the pc, and the mac is not always online.
Ideally their would be a USB drive as the go-between with software to sync both computers. The files that would be synced are all office documents.
any help would be great

A big jump drive and a very small shell script would do the trick.

If the office pc is online, but just prohibited from installing apps, what about a .mac account. You could create a copyof your idisk on your mac's hard drive & have it autosync, store your files in there & they'll always upload. When you need to, you could easily get them onto your office pc with (IIRC) a web browser. If you do buy .mac, buy it from Amazon, it's $20 cheaper than from Apple.

Can you just work with the documents off of the key? or put them in a folder on the desktop (on both systems) that you just drag to the USB drive at the end of the day before going home.

yes, however, I have to be dilligent about doing so everytime i leave work and get home, and leave home and get to work. I am not that dilligent. I am looking for a sync program so that no matterwhen or what i update, i can sync and have it update with the most recent version

heebee: rsync is a kick ass utility if you are hip to working in the command line utility. It does what you want to do very well.
