Don't ask how it got deleted, thats just too much of an embarrassing story. I just want it back, desperately. And I can't download the Beta, because I guess you need Safari 2.0. Any way to get it back would be way more than appreciated!

Pacifist: CharlesSoft - software you always wished someone would write

Then also run the latest combo-update to update it to the most recent version.

Or: Mac OS X: About the Archive and Install feature

Oh that was perfect! Pacifist, I mean. Thank you soo much. Not only could I get Safari back, but I got iDVD and Mail back, which I deleted long long ago.

Thanks again!

Well Safari was the accident where I said don't ask. But with iDVD, I only have an iBook G4 with a ComboDrive, so its worthless to me, but I figure I'll just mess with it anyways. With Mail, I had always used web based mail and wasn't about to change that. But now I think I'll give it a try.

Hypothetical here... say you trashed Safari, and you had no other internet browser and no other computer. How would you get Safari back?

You can't get online to download anything... I guess archive and install would work but it would be an unnecessary mess..

That almost happened to me, and that would have been a horrible mess. But luckily I still had Internet Explorer in Classic. It only topped out at 54KB a second, and couldn't load the Apple or Mozilla site very well or at all, so I ended up getting Opera. But it was MUCH better than the alternative.

Reinstall from your original OS disks. But who only has Safari nowadays? I think I have Safari, Camino, Firefox, and a couple others in Windows XP and Ubuntu via VMWare.

You could download Pacifist right now-

CharlesSoft - software you always wished someone would write

And then if you ever have that problem, use it to only install Safari from the install discs. Peace of mind at the price of 2.2MB.

Use the power of FTP:
Tell the Finder to connect to ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/ and search for the Firefox releases until you find something like ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.or...%202.0.0.6.dmg.
